Hi everyone! Well, it’s official. I am taking a sewing, knitting, and hobby that requires heavy use of my right hand break. I decided to do this because I have begun to struggle with stiffness in my right thumb. I have had problems with this since I was a teenager and, even though it’s not carpal tunnel syndrome, I have struggled with this for many years.
Last week, while working on my pink and green quilt, I began to feel the stiffness return. I took three days off sewing, which helped a lot, but the moment I returned to sewing, the stiffness returned again.
Since I’ve dealt with this before, I decided to halt doing any hobby that requires heavy work from my right hand. This has made me frustrated, but I know I’ve been pushing myself very hard recently and this is the result. Even though I decided to not see a doctor, based off previous experience I decided to give myself six to eight weeks break.
I’m not going to lie. Taking six to eight weeks off my hobbies will be horrible. I use my hobbies as stress relievers and I hate being without them for more than a week. Yet, I need to give my hand a break. That way when my hand has rested enough I can pick my activities up again and have the problems I had before. It does get under my skin I cannot work on any of my sewing and knitting plans for fall and winter though.
If you are worried this break will impact this blog, it will. I won’t be able to finish anything to post online. Still, I have other things I can talk about on here that I hope will interest you!
That’s all for now! Thank you for reading!
