Recently, I’ve been watching a lot of sewing shows in order to try to find new techniques and tips to help me sew faster and easier while keeping the sewing look very nice. One of the “tips” I heard of is to use a ruffling foot to make ruffles. I’ve heard of a ruffling foot, but I never looked for such a foot for my own sewing machine. After searching on Amazon.com, I found ruffling feet ranging in price from $10 to $50 or more. (F.Y.I. Costs given in United States dollars) Although I love sewing and want to use only the best equipment, I’m unbelievably frugal so $50 for a sewing foot was way out of my price range. I eventually settled on the $10 foot because the reviews on it were positive and the shipping was free.
Here is what the foot looks like….
I’ve done some research on how to use it, and fortunately for me the foot came with a paper that explains how to use it properly. I do feel very intimidated to use it, mostly because it has so many moving parts I’m afraid I might bend, but I plan on trying it out on a cotton skirt I wanted to make for myself. Although I want to use the foot for costuming/cosplay purposes, I might find some other projects to use the foot on. I’ll try to keep you posted on how the foot works out. Or if I break it before I even attach the contraption to my sewing machine, which I hope does not happen. ^_^
